The JNB Stables Puppy Selection Experience

At JNB Stables, we believe bringing home a puppy should be more than a transaction, it should be a thoughtful, guided experience that sets both puppy and family up for a lifetime of success.

Unlike many programs, we don’t simply allow families to choose based on appearance. We take great care in helping you select the puppy that is truly the best fit for your home, lifestyle, and goals. Because we’ve raised these puppies from day one, we know them deeply, and that insight is something we are proud to offer our families.

This process is exclusive to JNB Stables families and is a reflection of our commitment to doing things differently.

🐾 Selection at 6 Weeks

Puppy selection takes place when the puppies are 6 weeks old, once we have completed our full evaluations.

Rather than focusing on color or gender, we guide families toward choosing based on:

  • Personality and temperament

  • Energy level and confidence

  • Compatibility with your home and lifestyle

Our goal is simple, the right puppy in the right home.

🎥 Temperament Testing & Personalized Evaluation

Each puppy undergoes Volhard Puppy Aptitude Testing, performed in a neutral environment outside of their comfort zone to give us an honest look at who they are becoming.

This is where our program truly stands apart.

What families receive:

  • Full video recordings of each puppy’s evaluation (shared via YouTube)

  • A detailed scoring breakdown with clear explanations of what each result means

  • A thoughtfully prepared Google document for easy review and comparison

  • Our personal, experience-based assessment of every puppy in the litter

We don’t just hand over results, we help you understand them.

By combining structured testing with hands-on experience, we are able to provide guidance that most programs simply cannot. This allows families to make confident, informed decisions based on who the puppy is, not just what they look like.

⏱️ Selection Timeline & Process

To ensure every family feels prepared and supported, we follow a structured but considerate timeline.

How it works:

  • Testing videos and evaluations are sent out the day before selection

  • All families are expected to watch and review materials prior to selection day

  • Selection begins the following day at 9:00 AM Central Time

  • Families choose in the order deposits were received

When it is your turn, we are always happy to:

  • Answer questions

  • Offer guidance

  • Talk through your options

We simply ask that families remain mindful and respectful of those selecting after them so the process can move smoothly for everyone.

🏡 Visiting Your Puppies

We welcome and encourage families to spend time with the puppies prior to selection.

Visitation guidelines:

  • Visits are available from 3 weeks of age through the day before selection

  • No visits are permitted on selection day to ensure a calm, efficient process

  • Families are welcome to visit again after selections have been completed

This policy allows us to give every family the best possible experience without delays or disruptions.

💛 Bringing Your Puppy Home

Puppies are ready to go home at 8 weeks of age, after receiving the care, socialization, and early guidance they need to thrive.

By the time your puppy joins your family, you can feel confident knowing they were not only raised with intention, but also matched with purpose.
