The JNB Stables Guardian Home Program

At JNB Stables, our Guardian Home Program is not simply a convenience, it is a deeply intentional part of how we steward the dogs entrusted to us.

We believe that every dog deserves to be raised as a beloved family member, not in a kennel setting. This program allows our breeding dogs to live full, enriched lives in loving homes, while still playing an important role in our program.

“Whoever is faithful in little will be faithful in much.” — Luke 16:10

Through this model, we are able to uphold the highest standards of care, while honoring each dog as the gift they are.

🐾 What is a Guardian Home?

A Guardian Home is a carefully selected family who raises one of our breeding dogs as their own.

From puppyhood through retirement, your dog lives with you as a cherished member of your family, while we partner together throughout their breeding years.

How it works:

  • Guardian dogs are placed in approved homes at a reduced cost

  • They live with you full-time as your personal dog

  • When needed for health testing or breeding, they return to us temporarily

  • Females stay with us for whelping and until puppies are weaned at 8 weeks

  • After retirement, we cover the cost of spay or neuter

  • Your dog remains with you for life

This partnership allows us to ensure every dog receives individual attention, structure, and love, something that is simply not possible in large-scale programs.

💛 Why We Choose This Model

Many breeding programs rely on keeping a large number of dogs on-site. We have chosen a different path.

Our Guardian Home Program allows us to:

  • Maintain a small, intentional program

  • Ensure every dog is raised in a home environment

  • Provide one-on-one attention and training

  • Reduce stress and promote overall wellbeing

  • Place dogs in their forever homes from the very beginning

Even in the event that a dog does not pass health testing, they are already where they belong, in a loving home, without the need for rehoming.

This is not the easiest way to operate, but it is the right way.

Because at JNB Stables, we are not just raising dogs, we are stewarding something greater.

❓ Guardian Home FAQ

Do we “own” the dog?
Yes, your dog lives with you as your personal pet. While breeding rights remain with JNB Stables during their program years, they are fully part of your family from day one and remain with you for life.

How often will my dog need to return to JNB Stables?
This varies depending on the dog. Males may visit occasionally for breeding. Females will come to us for breeding and stay through whelping until puppies are weaned at 8 weeks. We communicate clearly and plan ahead for all scheduling.

What costs are we responsible for?
Guardian families cover routine care such as food, grooming, vaccinations, and general veterinary care. JNB Stables covers all breeding-related expenses.

What happens after my dog retires?
Once your dog has completed their role in our program, we cover the cost of spay or neuter, and they continue living with you as your family pet for the rest of their life.

What if something doesn’t go as planned?
We are committed to every dog for life. If a dog does not pass health testing or cannot continue in the program, they remain in your home as your pet, there is never a situation where a dog is displaced or rehomed.
